Catherine Buttner, MSW

Employing Knowledge: Where Theory and Practice Merge

Catherine Buttner is currently a doctoral candidate and Adjunct Professor at the School of Social Work at Rutgers University. In addition, she serves as Senior Program Coordinator at the Center on Violence Against Women and Children at Rutgers.

Catherine’s research interests include gender-based violence, sexual exploitation, sex work, and women’s reproductive health. She served as a Stoneleigh Emerging Leader Fellow at Philadelphia Youth Network from 2012-2013, where she led a comprehensive assessment of youth workforce development models in Philadelphia. Prior to her Fellowship, she was a Clinical Research Coordinator examining intimate partner violence at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice.

Catherine holds a BS in sociology from Saint Joseph’s University and an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania.
