Strengthening Implementation of Extended Foster Care in Pennsylvania

Dominique Mikell Montgomery is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Dominique previously served as a Stoneleigh Emerging Leader Fellow at Juvenile Law Center, where she researched the statewide implementation of Pennsylvania’s extended foster care legislation, Act 91. She also used her findings to identify policy and practice strategies that will help more youth benefit from extended foster care services across the state.

Prior to her Fellowship, Dominique worked as a research assistant on the California Youth Transition to Adulthood study led by Dr. Mark Courtney to evaluate the implementation of California’s extended foster care legislation. Previously, she completed internships with the Chicago Child Care Society, CHANGE Illinois, and Kenwood Academy.

Dominique holds a BA in philosophy from Stanford University and graduated with Honors from the Graduate School of Education. She also holds an AM degree with a focus on child welfare from the University of Chicago.
