Stoneleigh Fellow Dr. Ted Corbin receives grant from the public health fund to establish a youth injury review panel in Philadelphia

March 14, 2013

Through the Drexel University Center for Non-Violence and Social Justice, Dr. Corbin, has received a grant from the Public Health Fund to establish a Youth Violent Injury Review Panel in Philadelphia. The panel is comprised of representatives from various city departments and other key stakeholders in violence prevention. It met in February and will continue to meet monthly to review cases of non-fatal violent injury among residents in Philadelphia ages 15-24 in a confidential manner.

Discussion of specific cases will identify gaps in service coordination and delivery, opportunities for preventive intervention, and generate recommendations for policy change across systems to improve services to at-risk youth.  Dr. Corbin has also received a grant from the Annie E Casey Foundation to expand his validation research.
